2026 Dodge Durango is a three-row SUV-type vehicle that is very interesting to try as the first vehicle used for daily activities. According to Automotive News, there is a big overhaul planned for the Next-Gen 2026 Dodge Durango model.
The previously long-running Dodge Durango enters another year with relatively few changes. This three-row SUV was introduced more than a decade ago, and while it has seen several updates over the years, Dodge’s biggest model has only gotten better over time.
The fuel economy is poor, and many of the latest technology features that are useful for families are not available in Durango. But if you want an old-school feel in your three-row SUV, the Durango will come out on top. The available V8 engine provides plenty of power for towing, and the available SRT and SRT Hellcat versions increase power and performance even further.
Additionally, it seems that the 2026 Dodge Durango Hellcat model is also present although the changes that will be made are not yet clear. But one thing is certain experts predict that Dodge will continue to produce classic American muscle cars, of course with a more refined style.
Report: 2026 Dodge Durango
On the other hand, according to a report we recently made during United Auto Workers (UAW) contract negotiations, the all-new Durango will be available in 2026.
The future Dodge Durango, codenamed D6U, will continue to be developed and built at the Detroit Assembly Complex within Detroit city limits, along with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The next-generation Dodge Durango will be based on the STLA Large unibody platform, which will also be the foundation for a large number of new Stellantis vehicles in North America. These include the Dodge Charger muscle car, the luxurious Jeep Wagoneer S, the off-road capable Jeep Recon, and the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee.
According to internal documents, the upcoming 2026 Durango will have internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery-electric (BEV) options, underscoring Dodge’s willingness to embrace the next frontier in the automotive industry. The Large STLA architecture will serve as the foundation for the automaker’s future D-segment vehicles, as well as all E and F-segment unibody models.
The architecture is thoughtfully designed to enable a potential electric range of up to 500 miles by combining a Stellantis-built electric drive module (EDM) and modular battery pack. The flexibility of this platform allows designers and engineers to customize the length, width and powertrain setup to suit a specific product concept.
At the annual dealer meeting in Las Vegas in March 2023, dealers were given an exclusive look at the design concept for Dodge’s new E-segment SUV. Based on its predecessor the 2026 Dodge Durango will also come with an all-new STLA EV platform that could be offered with the new Charger’s new inline 6-cylinder Turbo. Although at the time of its launch, most potential buyers were probably on board with the idea of a Dodge Durango electric SUV.
The current 3rd generation Dodge Durango model came out in 2011 and will be produced in Detroit until 2025. I’m quite amazed at how good it looks after all these years. The new STLA-based Durango EV will go into production in 2026. As I mentioned before, an ICE version could still be part of the next-generation lineup.
The illustration above shows what the new Durango EV will look like. I think something like this would be a great complement to the new Charger in Dodge showrooms. But they need more than these two things to bring the brand back.
The current Dodge Hornet is just an Alfa Romeo Tonale clone and sold just under 10,000 units last year. And surprisingly, it seems the redesigned front end isn’t fooling anyone. Dodge does need a new, smaller crossover and I hope Stelantis is working on it.
2026 Durango Redesign
Late last year Dodge took the first steps into a new era of ICE and EV muscle cars by introducing the eighth-generation Charger in traditional two-door fastback coupe form and with the surprise return of the four-door sedan body style. This is one of the surprises prepared for the official reveal ceremony.
As far as the imaginative world of digital car content creation is concerned, we may be heading towards the moment when Dodge also retires the third generation of its Durango mid-size crossover SUV. According to Vince Burlapp aka vburlapp on social media or his rumor plus rendering portal burlappcar.com, who is a prolific virtual artist who likes to dream up all the newest models in the vast automotive world, the bet is on the arrival of a fourth generation 2026 Dodge Durango with the same EV powertrain and Big STLA underpinnings like the Charger Daytona and Jeep Wagoneer S, albeit at a lower price than the latter.
It probably won’t have much more than 600 hp to ensure it doesn’t steal clients away from the Wagoneer S, so it’s probably safe to assume that an R/T version of the Charger Daytona with nearly 500 ponies is the right choice for the upcoming Durango EV.
As for the looks, take these renderings with a healthy dose of salt as they look good but are also completely unofficial at this point. Additionally, we shouldn’t rule out the potential return of a petrol model with a 3.0 liter Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six under the hood because who knows whether or not EV adoption will stall around 2026.
2026 Durango Exterior
On the outside, the 2026 Dodge Durango is expected to have a completely new look with a design more similar to the Hornet. Additionally, the 2026 Durango is expected to get a new front fascia and grille, as well as redesigned headlights and a redesigned rear end.

The technology featured in the latest 2026 Dodge Durango model is expected to get a significant upgrade with the Uconnect 4C interface on the 8.4-inch screen, although it feels a bit dated, it is user-friendly and syncs well with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration systems.
The 10.1-inch screen available is more contemporary. There are plenty of USB and 12-volt charging options for passengers in all positions. Driver aids like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist are useful, but usually optional on the Durango. The upgraded Harman Kardon audio system sounds great and is worth getting.
