The next-generation Charger will be a new car for the Dodge lineup when it goes on sale, probably for the 2024 model year. There may be a four-door variant as well, but we won’t know much more about either car until its launch.

Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Dodge, provided us with a product summary of the 2024 Dodge electric muscle car during the world premiere of its concept version on August 17, 2022, in accordance with the company’s pre-EV development goals:

The 2024 Dodge Challenger gets a six-cylinder turbo offering alongside electric power in one of the leaks posted online hinting that the next Dodge Challenger and Charger may not yet be fully electric and could retain petrol power, with six cylinders and twin turbochargers.
The end of the V8 era may be approaching, but a former employee has suggested the Dodge Challenger 2024 and Dodge Charger 2024 will adopt the new 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder petrol engine. Earlier this month Dodge announced that the ‘Hemi’ V8 family of engines would no longer be installed in the Challenger coupe and Charger sedan from late 2023 with a new era of ‘eMuscle’ cars to harness electric power.
However, while some versions of future Dodge muscle cars will adopt electric motors – previewed last week as the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept – it now appears that some versions could continue to be offered with the petrol engine of the all-new six-cylinder ‘Hurricane’. ‘ machine family.
Right now, the majority of people expect Dodge’s first EV to be an electric Ram 1500 that will compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV. While an electric Ram is definitely coming (Dodge confirmed last year) it may not be the brand’s first electric vehicle. Instead, it looks like the next-generation Challenger and Charger, due for release in 2024, will be completely electric.
So there you have it, the next-generation Charger and Challenger (which will be due in just two years) look set to be all-electric with no engine options. Dodge has been teasing the 2-door electric muscle car for a while now, but most people assumed when it finally arrived it would be a separate model from the V6/V8 Challenger.
However, now it looks like it will replace the ICE Challenger. A bold move from Dodge. We’ll have to find out more about Dodge’s so far unclear electric plans in the weeks that follow. The brand is expected to showcase the electric muscle car in concept form this August. Other models, such as the Ram 1500 EV crossover and Hornet PHEV, may also be featured.
2024 Challenger Refresh
Dodge will release a series of “Last Call” Challenger and Charger models for 2023 before discontinuing gas-powered versions of both models, which will switch to pure electric vehicles starting in 2024.

Dodge Challenger 2024 Design
The Design 2024 Dodge Challenger is a concept variant of the first two-door Charger-equipped electric vehicle. However, there are media speculations that the production Charger will have four doors. MoparInsiders.com reported on March 26, 2023, based on information obtained from the 2023 Stellantis Dealer Business Meeting, that the next-generation Charger will be a four-door model.
The 2024 Dodge electric muscle car could resemble a next-generation muscle car that combines classic proportions with contemporary and futuristic design elements. The new ‘Greys of Thunder’ color featured on the concept model will complement its understated appearance.
The distinctive front wing of the Charger Daytona SRT concept was referred to by Dodge as the ‘R-Wing.’ We are referring to the unique aerodynamic pass-through between the headlamps, which is nearly invisible and concealed underneath.
The R-Wing pays homage to the design of the first Charger Daytona and increases the vehicle’s downforce by enabling air to flow from the dual openings into the hood and further back.
The dramatic front illumination of the 2024 Dodge Challenger includes double-eye square headlamps, full-width rectangular daytime running lights, and an illuminated Fratzog logo. The return of the three-pointed Fratzog badge, which Dodge first introduced in 1962, marked the beginning of the brand’s journey towards zero emissions.
At the bottom is a vertical slotted wide air intake grille which is a throwback to the 1968 Dodge Charger. The taillights feature a full-width design centered by an illuminated Fratzog badge.
On the side, the electric muscle car concept flaunts slim mirrors, a sloping roofline, large quarter glass that allows rear-seat passengers to get a good view of their surroundings, red Brembo brake calipers, flush door handles, and aluminum “screaming” Banshee fender badges.
It is then complemented by the shoulder line quickly rising backward and then similarly descending from under the C-pillar.
Initially, the Charger Daytona SRT Concept model featured 21-inch wheel pockets painted with a diamond-cut surface. The new Red Dodge Stryker unit on display at the 2022 SEMA Show features revised wheels and tires.
This time, the company employs 18-inch Direct Connection lightweight carbon fiber concept wheels with 305mm of radial drag. Later that month, it converted to a third set of dull gray-finished alloy wheels for the 2022 LA Auto Show (November 17-27, 2022).
Aero optimized body
Thin mirrors and a sloping roofline had to be developed for the production car to make it aerodynamically efficient and able to travel longer distances. Also, Dodge may offer closed wheels optionally for better aerodynamics.
There will be some customers willing to trade aggressiveness for lower energy consumption.
Fratzonic chamber exhaust
Despite its eye-catching looks, the Fratzonic chamber exhaust isn’t the highlight of Dodge’s electric muscle car. The talking point is the ‘Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust’ system.
Basically, Dodge added exhaust to battery-powered cars, leaving no reason for old-school muscle car enthusiasts to switch!
Dodge says its industry-first, patent-pending exhaust system produces a performance sound that rivals the gas-powered SRT Hellcat. It can reach 126 dB which makes the car as loud as a Hellcat-powered Dodge.
The Banshee’s screaming fender badge is no open invitation to scoff at the car’s electric powertrain as this car can certainly roar, albeit artificially!
Kuniskis spoke with Motor Trend about the Fratzonic Chamber Exhaust at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show (September 14-25, 2022). He stated that the company has altered his sound countless times and “will continue” to do so until it discovers the ideal pitch.
“We are still working on it and we have plans to do something with it at SEMA that will help,” the brand boss added, pointing out that visitors to the 2022 SEMA Show will experience a different sound from the concept’s dummy exhaust system.
2024 Challenger Trim
As far as we are concerned the Dodge Challenger and Charger model types have different trim options. The Challenger is available in ten different variants:

To honor the legacy of both cars, the package offers features such as a special plaque with the final model year stamp and the return of favorite exterior paint colors such as Destroyer Gray, Plum Crazy, Sublime, and B5 Blue.
2024 Dodge Challenger Interior
The 2024 Dodge Challenger will feature a modern and highly digital interior, which is exactly what we hoped for the 2024 Dodge electric muscle car based on the Daytona SRT show car. The cabin still looks conventional.
Touch screen & HUD
The 2024 Dodge Challenger is anticipated to have a streamlined dashboard, a 12.3-inch touchscreen inclined ten degrees toward the driver, a curved 16-inch instrument cluster, an 8-by-3-inch head-up display, and a new exterior design.
In addition, the Dodge Challenger is also equipped with a steering wheel with capacitive touch controls and an illuminated SRT logo, as well as capacitive touch controls on the doors. The production model must carry all of these features.

Digital cockpit with OTA
The seriousness of Stellantis as Dodge’s parent company has formed a 50/50 joint venture called Mobile Drive with Foxconn to build a digital cockpit. Based in the Netherlands, Mobile Drive will develop infotainment platforms, telematics, and cloud services.
The infotainment system will be a new unit developed by Mobile Drive and includes AI, 5G, and OTA software updates. Over-the-air (OTA) software updates will be used to add new features to Dodge EVs for years after they are dispatched to customers. Technology-wise, electric vehicles will remain current.
What customers will get, namely, activate the power boost function or activate the power boost permanently at any time during their ownership?

Challenger 2024 Charger

The Charger has a cargo volume of 16.5 cubic feet, while the Challenger has more interior space. Both cars have rear seats with a 60/40 split, which allows you to fold them down when you need more space and access to the rear seats.
Whether you’re traveling to Angleton, Texas, or competing on the racetrack, the diverse features of the Dodge Challenger and Charger will make you feel right at home. The Challenger has standard cloth seats, but there’s also leather upholstery.

Dodge Challenger 2024 Engine Performance
To satisfy the driving enthusiasts, the Dodge Challenger releases five engine options.
The standard 3.6-liter V-6 engine produces 303 horsepower and has an eight-speed automatic transmission. Other Hemi V-8 engines offer more power and energy performance. For example, the output 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 produces an incredible 797 horsepower on the Hellcat Redeye model and 807 horsepower on the SRT Super Stock and SRT Jailbreak. The Challenger R/T Scat Pack has a 392 Hemi V-8 with 475 lb-ft of torque.
Like the Challenger, the Charger also offers a variety of engines based on your preferences. The base 3.6-liter V-6 engine produces 292 horsepower and comes with rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 345 Hemi V-8 under the hood of the Dodge Charger R/T has 370 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. The 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 SRT Hellcat has 807 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque.
2024 Dodge Challenger EV
2024 Dodge Challenger Electric: The mid-range Charger 340 has a 400-volt propulsion system and 455 horsepower, while the mid-range Charger 440-also known as the electric Cat Pack-has 590 horsepower. Dodge Direct Connection also provides multi-speed transmissions for these two models.
As expected, the highest model Banshee has an 800-volt architecture, and we expect the Banshee to have two motors if the lower model does not. Although horsepower ratings are still a secret, Dodge claims the Banshee will beat the gas-powered Hellcat in all aspects. Sound is also included, with the Charger EV’s booster chamber “exhaust” set to 126 decibels.
Engine Performance EV
Although Dodge did not reveal the number of motors that will be used for the various trims of the new Charger, the entry-level 340 version is said to produce 455 horsepower, and the mid-range 440 version is said to produce 590 horsepower.
Although the 800-volt all-wheel-drive architecture is used on the SRT Banshee model, its horsepower rating has not been announced. We also know that the concept car uses a multi-speed transmission rather than the typical EV direct drive setup.
This isn’t a unique idea-Porsche Taycan has a similar concept, and the configuration is meant to improve performance and range at higher speeds. It also makes the driver feel like they are shifting gears during strong acceleration.
May offer a Six-Cylinder Turbo in Addition to Electric Power
As an employee of Stellantis Dodge’s parent company which includes brands like Jeep and Ram, among others, the product engineer claims he helped create new exhaust components for the Hurricane in the Challenger and Charger, according to one of his social media profiles.
During his 15 months at the automaker, he was responsible for the “release requirements and design of a new catalytic converter for the Dodge Charger/Challenger [The model Year 2024] 3.0-liter ‘GMET6,’” his bio reads.
The twin-turbo straight-six engine is referred to as GMET6 internally by the US auto giant and will be offered in two conditions: a standard output (SO) version rumored to produce at least 298kW and 610Nm, and a high output (HO) version with least 373kW and 644Nm.
The Mopar Insiders website reports that the SO and HO Hurricane engines will be offered in the Challenger and Charger, suggesting that they could replace the 3.6-liter V6 ‘Pentastar’ and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 options respectively.
Meanwhile, a 400-volt electric powertrain can replace the 6.4-liter ‘Scat Pack’, with the flagship 800-volt ‘Banshee’ system replacing the high-performance 6.2-liter supercharged V8 of the top-of-the-range Hellcat model.
While the six-cylinder will meet and exceed the performance specifications of a naturally aspirated V8 engine, the Hurricane’s engine has been designed to provide increased fuel economy, as well as better emissions – by as much as 15 percent.
Dodger fans will be quick to refer to the statement provided to the US website Motor1 earlier this month, following reports from the US that the V8 Challenger and Charger will be live with the new generation.
“The story is not true. The Hemi on that platform, as well as those platforms, will disappear. The next generation will be BEVs [battery-electric vehicles],” a spokesperson told the publication.
However, this statement only ruled out installing a V8 engine – leaving the door open for a new six-cylinder muscle car on a new platform, with an electric option.
If this report – and the information posted by an engineer – proves to be accurate, expect to see the 2024 six-cylinder Dodge Challenger and Charger revealed in production-ready guise next year.
Buyers will be given until December 2023 to get their hands on what will be the muscle car company’s last V8 engine, when the next-generation Challenger and Charger cars roll off the production line.
2024 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
The 2024 Dodge Challenger is a high-performance muscle automobile that comes in several trim levels, each of which has a different set of features and characteristics. A 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque powers the entry model, the SXT.
The R/T, which comes with a 5.7-liter V8 engine that makes 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, is the next level up. A 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that generates 717 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque powers the top-tier 2024 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat variant.
Rear-wheel drive is the default for all Challenger models, while all-wheel drive is an option for the R/T and SRT Hellcat variants. Transmission options for the Challenger include a six-speed manual, an eight-speed automatic, and a 10-speed automatic.
Despite being a big, hefty car, the Challenger is surprisingly agile. The car handles well on both straightaways and highways thanks to a suspension that is designed for both comfort and performance. For a muscle car, the Challenger’s fuel efficiency is also startling. According to the EPA, the base model achieves 30 miles per gallon on the interstate and 19 miles per gallon in the city.
The EPA estimates that the R/T achieves 18 city miles per gallon and 27 highway miles per gallon. According to the EPA, the SRT Hellcat achieves 25 mpg on the freeway and 16 mpg in the city.
The Challenger’s cabin is roomy and welcoming. There is plenty of headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers, and the front seats are comfortable and well-shaped. The Challenger also features a sizable trunk that has a maximum cargo capacity of 16.2 cubic feet.
Anyone looking for a high-performance muscle car with a cozy and roomy cabin should consider the Challenger. It is offered in a range of trim levels to accommodate every spending limit and driving preference.
2024 Dodge Challenger Demon
The 2024 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is the most powerful and fastest car in the world, honoring the classic V8-powered muscle car with a speed of 97 km/h in 1.66 seconds.
According to Whichcar media, the Dodge is claimed to have the ability to complete the 0-60mph (0-97km/h) sprint in 1.33 seconds, faster than the Bugatti Chiron’s claimed 2.3 seconds. In addition, the Dodge has a G-force of 2.004 gs, breaking the acceleration record.
Fueled by E85 ethanol, the car is powered by a modified 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. This engine has a power of 764kW and 1281Nm. It will complete the quarter-mile (402 meters) sprint in 8.91 seconds and reach a speed of 151.17 mph (243 km/h). To launch on the track organized by the National Hot Rod Association, a parachute and roll-cage are required.
The modified engine is derived from the original SRT Demon and “shares DNA” with the Hellephant C170 crate engine, with some upgrades.
It has a 3.0-liter supercharger that has 40% higher boost pressure (21.3 v 15.3 psi) than the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. In addition, the supercharger pulley has 14% higher overdrive and an updated 2.68 drive ratio.
Additional improvements include a larger diameter throttle body, nitride-coated intake valves, high-strength connecting rods, upgraded spark plugs, valve guides, seat material for ethanol compatibility, and throttle body guides.
According to Dodge, the high-flow fuel injectors can deliver 621 liters of fuel per hour, which is “more than the average shower in the US.” The destination charge and the US federal “fuel economy tax” raised the selling price from US$96,666 (AU$144,000) to US$100,361 (AU$150,000).
Dodge has recalibrated the powertrain control module to optimize fueling and spark timing for ethanol and premium fuel blends. The ethanol percentage will be measured by sensors and displayed in the instrument cluster.
The ethanol percentage affects the amount of power available; if there is more than 65% ethanol, the power available will be 764kW. However, when the E10 fuel is reused, the power will be reduced to 671kW and 1098Nm.
To deliver all that power to the rear wheels, Dodge has upgraded the eight-speed automatic torque converter that comes from ZF, and installed a 30 percent stronger rear driveshaft.
In addition, the half-shaft heat treatment process has been changed to “optimize stiffness for acceleration performance”, and a stronger shaft has been added to the rear.
The updated TransBrake 2.0 allows the driver to hold down the accelerator and then pull the shift paddle to glide down the drag strip with additional power to set the torque output in tenths of a second increments.
The rear uses 315/50R17 Mickey Thompson T Street R tires designed for drag, and the front uses sleeker 245/55R18 rubber. You can also choose wheels and tires for wet or cold weather.
Weighing 9.13 kg at the front and 5.43 kg at the rear, a set of forged aluminum and carbon fiber alloy wheels are available.
Although it looks like a 2017 vintage SRT Demon, the fender flares have been removed to reduce weight, and the Demon 170 has different badges.
The car will be available in twelve exterior colors, including B5 crazy blue and plum crazy. In addition, there will be a choice of two black colors for the hood, roof, and trunk lid.
On the inside, the SRT Demon 170 features lightweight interior carpeting, noise, vibration, and harshness eliminating padding, and a deleted passenger seat and rear bench. The 2024 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 will be produced in just 3,330 units, and will very likely remain available in the United States.
Dodge will replace the Challenger with an all-new model in 2024, which is the last call for the company’s HEMI V8 muscle car. The all-electric Daytona SRT concept, announced in mid-2022, will take that into consideration.
A report from Mopar Insiders suggests that the car will be equipped with an electric derivative and a downsized Hurricane inline-six, in addition to a four-door successor to the comparable Charger.
2024 Dodge Challenger Engine
In the 2024 Dodge Challenger, the powered 400-volt powertrain can replace the 6.4-liter ‘Scat Pack’, with the 800-volt Banshee system replacing the high-performance 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine of the top Hellcat model.
While the six cylinders will meet and exceed the performance specifications of a naturally aspirated V8 engine, the Hurricane engine has been designed to deliver improved fuel economy, as well as deliver increased emissions by as much as 15 percent.
Dodge fans will soon be referring to the statement provided to the US Motor1 website earlier this month, following reports from the US that the V8 Challenger and Charger will live on with the new generation.
