2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee With the production of the Jeep® Grand Cherokee (WK2) ending at the end of 2021, there are many questions regarding the future of the Trackhawk nameplate. The 707 horsepower performance version of the Grand Cherokee has proven to be a strong contender on the track and a real threat on the drag track. So what’s left for the Trackhawk?
Back in 2018, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) held a Captial Markets Day event where it informed its investors about the planned direction of its global brand portfolio over the next five years.
While some plans have changed, Jeep detailed its strategy for the Trackhawk nameplate. Jeep lists the Trackhawk as a brand statement about top-of-the-road performance and will continue the Jeep brand’s message of segment-leading capability. With it, any performance variant of the Jeep brand can sport the Trackhawk nameplate.
That being said, with the recent disbandment of the SRT division, it seems likely that the SRT name will continue on Dodge vehicles only as a top performance trim level. This means that the fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) could produce a 6.4-liter 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8 with a Trackhawk nameplate similar to the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT392.
Our sources indicate there are still a few more years of Hellcat power remaining under the Dodge, Jeep, and Ram brands. We don’t expect HEMIs to die out anytime soon, but instead, incorporate more fuel-efficient technologies to allow them to continue to meet federally mandated emissions requirements.
So will the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk make it? More than possible!
But what will the next-generation Grand Cherokee Trackhawk look like? A certain digital artist on Instagram believes he has the answer. Giving the fifth generation a low-slung profile, ildar_project gives the new Grand Cherokee a more threatening look despite its squarer look.
Based on the Overland trim, this Trackhawk design adds a large front chin spoiler, large 6-piston Brembo brakes, underside sills, Durango-style performance hood with scoop, 20-inch Alcoa alloy wheels from the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat 1320 Package.
Looking at the rear, there are two different rear spoilers, one large around the rear window and the other just below it acting as a woven spoiler.
Of course, this Trackhawk design has four large exhaust outlets coming out of the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle is finished in a Redline strip similar to that offered on the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT392 and SRT Hellcat.

2023 Jeep Cherokee When you close your eyes and think of a Jeep most likely a rugged Wrangler comes to mind, but the Grand Cherokee is just as important to the off-road brand’s famed success in terms of sales.
Its appeal is bolstered by the fact that it combines impressive off-road capability with on-road refinement offers much of the promise and luxury features available and has the rugged, outdoor look that Jeep buyers love.
A trio of powertrains is on offer, including the familiar V-6 and V-8 options and a new plug-in-hybrid variant called the Jeep 4xe. While rear-wheel drive is standard on models with the V-6, there are no less than three all-wheel-drive systems available to help cope with whatever your lifestyle needs, whether it’s simply commuting through snowy weather or crawling on rocks in Moab.
For the 2021 model year, Jeep unveiled a new generation of Grand Cherokee, but only offered the new model as a three-row L variant (reviewed separately) alongside the previous-generation two-row GC. For the 2022 model year, the Grand Cherokee is shedding its old bones with the introduction of a two-row body style on top of the new architecture and we look forward to a significant update for 2023.
2023 Jeep Cherokee Redesign
The 2023 Jeep Cherokee Redesign only appeared more than a decade after its last redesign. After a decade of resting on the laurels, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has finally undergone a full redesign for the 2023 model year.
The New Grand Cherokee 2023 will share many designs and features with the recently introduced 2021 Grand Cherokee L. The big difference? The shorter wheelbase and one less seat row.

Look for Jeep to offer several different trim levels on the next-generation Grand Cherokee, with most models sporting standard rear-wheel drive. It is said that every Grand Cherokee will offer four-wheel drive at least as an option.
Look for some systems too. While the higher-end and more trail-oriented Grand Cherokee trim will no doubt use a two-speed transfer case for extra prowess outside the line the lower-spec model might use a less complicated setup that can be done without low-range gearing just as it happens when this.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Interior
We anticipate Jeep will customize its new Grand Cherokee with the same key infotainment features found on the longer Grand Cherokee L.
An 8.4-inch touchscreen will serve as an entry-level option, while a larger 10.1-inch display running FCA’s Uconnect 5 infotainment software will be offered as an upgraded setup. The Grand Cherokee L’s 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 10.0-inch heads-up display are sure to find their way into the smaller Grand Cherokee, too.
The cabin feels fresher and more luxurious than ever. Some of the features offered here include:

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Convenience and Cargo
A thoroughly modernized cabin replaces the slightly dated interior of the Grand Cherokee. While the base Laredo model offers the essentials, the upscale Summit and Overland trims will add luxuries like upholstered leather upholstery, open-porous wood trim, and a high-tech digital look.
The New Grand Cherokee 2023 is truly a refreshed two-row SUV but buyers looking for a third row can upgrade to the Grand Cherokee L, which we review separately. We haven’t had a chance to test the new Grand Cherokee yet, but we hope it can accommodate more of our carry-on luggage than the previous generation model.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Infotainment and Connectivity
Floating just above the surface of the Grand Cherokee’s dashboard is an 8.4 or 10.1-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. In-dash navigation with real-time traffic and weather updates is optional, and high-end models can be had with a digital gauge cluster, 10.0-inch heads-up display.
Another 10.3-inch screen is embedded into the dashboard for use by front-seat passengers. While the Laredo and Limited models ship with standard six-speaker stereo, buyers will be able to upgrade to a nine-speaker Alpine audio setup or a high-end 19-speaker McIntosh setup.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
When introduced for the 2021 model year the Jeep Grand Cherokee L was a mid-sized 3-row crossover SUV that was a welcome addition to Jeep’s family-friendly 3-row seating line.
Meanwhile, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L has a premium look and great interior that might make you forget that it’s also a tough off-roader. As you would expect the Jeep Grand Cherokee L retains the excellent off-road capabilities associated with the brand when equipped with 4-wheel drive.
We expect to see more trims introduced; in particular, we wanted to see a truly off-road-ready Trailhawk model. A bigger and more powerful V8 option would also be a welcome addition, but we might wait a few years for that.
A standard 3.6-liter V6 engine and an optional 5.7-liter V8 engine are likely to be used for 2022 as well as three 4-wheel drive systems available to enhance off-road performance.
Some of the features that will cost you extra include 4-wheel drive, Quadra-Lift air suspension, Nappa leather seats, and modern driver assistance technology features such as parking assist, intersection collision assistance, adaptive cruise control, and more.
We also expect prices for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L 2023 to start in the mid-$31,999 range and move up to the low $61,999 range for the luxury Summit model with options.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hybrid 4XE
Jeep kicked off the arrival of the redesigned Grand Cherokee earlier this year by unveiling a new three-row variant dubbed the Grand Cherokee L. It’s already at dealerships and is priced from $39,690, including destination.
The regular two-row version of the redesigned Grand Cherokee was revealed on Wednesday and will hit dealers towards the end of the year. There’s not much difference on the Grand Cherokee L but there’s a new plug-in hybrid powertrain that carries the Jeep 4xe (four-by-e) designation first seen in the Wrangler.
The Grand Cherokee 4xe has the same setup as the Wrangler 4xe. It consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 and a pair of motor generators, one replacing the engine’s starter motor and the other integrated with the transmission, in this case, an 8-speed automatic.
Peak output is 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, and the 17-kilowatt-hour battery is said to be good for an electric range of around 25 miles.
The towing capacity for the Grand Cherokee 4xe is 6,000 pounds. If you’re looking for more, the 5.7-liter V-8 is available. The powertrain is good for 357 hp and 390 lb-ft and has a towing capacity of 7,200 pounds.
The final powertrain option is a 293-hp 3.6-liter V-6 which can be configured with rear or four-wheel drive, unlike plug-in hybrid and four-wheel-drive V-8 setups.
Another big news is the return of the off-road Trailhawk class, which can be ordered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It comes standard with 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, along with skid armor plates, an integrated off-road camera.
Quadra-Drive II four-wheel-drive system, and air suspension capable of providing up to 11.3 inches of ground clearance to improve approach, departure, and break-over angles.
Air fording is also up to 24 inches. The real trick is the new sway bar-breaking feature to allow for better wheel articulation for everyone rock crawlers. Lastly, there’s the Jeep Selec Speed Control to adjust vehicle speed in 4LO.
The interior design of the latest Grand Cherokee matches that of the Grand Cherokee L, though of course there are only two rows here. Jeep has upgraded the interior for the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee, even for the base Laredo class.
Jeep also hasn’t confirmed whether a 4xe option will be offered in the Grand Cherokee L, but the move is most likely given that the two Grand Cherokee variants are twins under the skin. Jeep is also pretty serious about electrification and has even built its charging station just down the road.
We’re talking 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Jeep also promises to deliver zero-emissions vehicles in every segment it competes with as early as 2025. This will be possible thanks to the four highly flexible battery-electric platforms developed by Stellaris. The platforms are STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large, and STLA Frame, and they will offer range figures starting at 300 miles and continuing up to 500 miles.

New 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Hybrid Plug-In Be Option
Jeep’s second 4xe model after the Wrangler comes in the form of a Grand Cherokee. The Wrangler 4xe was launched recently and has become the best-selling plug-in hybrid model in the US according to Jeep. There’s no reason why the Grand Cherokee 4xe wouldn’t be a hit either.
The Grand Cherokee 4xe is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that produces 375 horsepower and a total of 470 lb-ft.
This 17 kWh battery is good enough for an electric range of 25 miles and helps increase fuel economy to 57 MPGe, bringing the total range at the full tank and full load to over 440 miles.
There are four Selec 4xe modes to choose from: hybrid, electric, and eSave. Maximum towing capacity here is rated at 6,000 lbs. As the name suggests, the 4xe will be an exclusive four-wheel drive offering.
It will be available in four trims Limited, Trailhawk Overland, and Summit.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine
The new Grand Cherokee 2023 offers a huge selection of engines to choose from. Like the Grand Cherokee L, the two-row Grand Cherokee is expected to come standard with a 3.6-liter, 290-hp V6 engine. A 5.7-liter, 357-horsepower V8 will almost certainly find its place under the hood of an even smaller Grand Cherokee.
More efficiency-oriented consumers can meet their needs with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 offered by the Wrangler.
Likewise, the new Grand Cherokee will add a 4xE petrol-electric hybrid model to the mix, and we expect the 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe to support the 375bhp powertrain of its Wrangler 4xe stable partner.
High-performance junkies should have tasted with the new SRT models. Whether the Trackhawk’s 700-horsepower supercharged V8 will find its place in the new Grand Cherokee remains to be seen.
Anyway, we think trims like the Gladiator Mojave with Desert Value could make it into the next Grand Cherokee. Look for the Grand Cherokee to offer additional ground clearance, model-specific shocks and springs, and more.
Three four-wheel-drive systems will be available
Much like the Grand Cherokee L, Jeep has decided to offer three four-wheel-drive systems on the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee.
- Quadra-Trac I
- Quadra-Trac II
- Quadra Drive III
The Quadra-Trac I has a single-speed transfer case, the Quadra-Trac II has a low gearbox, while the QuadraDrive III has an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential in addition to the Quadra-Trac functionality. The transmission can automatically release the front axle.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Transmission and Performance
Like the previous generation Grand Cherokee, the new Grand Cherokee is powered by a 3.6 liter V6 or 5.7 liters Hemi V8 engine. Jeep also offers a 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain that introduces electrification to its SUV family: Rear-wheel drive is standard on a V6 base, but all-wheel drive is standard on Grand Cherokees with a V8 or plug-in hybrid engine.
Several four-wheel-drive systems are available including a limited-slip differential with electronic locking, the Trailhawk model is also available with more powerful off-road equipment and a larger capacity and has an adjustable air suspension that offers up to 11.3 inches of ground clearance. bars that allow greater wheel articulation for tough terrain.
When we get a chance to test the new Grand Cherokee on our test trail, we’ll update this story with the results. At the other end of the performance spectrum, we’d expect Jeep to continue to offer high-performance SRT and Trackhawk models, but we’re looking at that separately.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee with V-8 Detailed
All five generations of the Jeep Grand Cherokee have offered V-8 engines, but the transition is coming, Jeep vice president Jim Morrison told Motor Authority.
Morrison sat down with the MA after the reveal of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee two-row to talk about the V-8, electrification, performance, and packaging. This is what we learned.
To date, the V-8 has been part of the Grand Cherokee’s DNA, Morrison said. Customers are looking for it, but eventually, customers will turn to electrified options. Morrison believes customers will be attracted to the extra torque to be had with a plug-in hybrid.
While the 2023 two-row Grand Cherokee was unveiled on Tuesday in a V-8, Morrison acknowledged the engine wouldn’t last. Even Jeep’s twin brother, Dodge, knew that the days of the V-8 were coming to an end. In February, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said the days of the V-8 were “counting.”
Beyond the 5.7-liter Jeep V-8 that has been announced for the Grand Cherokee, it’s not clear which V-8 will fit. The WK2 Grand Cherokee has offered a 6.4-liter V-8 and a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 Hellcat in the form of the SRT and Trackhawk.
While the Hellcat powertrain lived on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk for several years, it was a one-year special on its partner platform, the Dodge Durango Hellcat. The reason is simple, the powertrain no longer meets the emission requirements of the old platform. The Hellcat powertrain will meet the emissions requirements of the new WL platform, Morrison insisted he couldn’t answer the question.
It was widely reported that before FCA became Stellantis, the automaker developed a 6-leaf inline turbocharger to replace the 5.7-liter V8. FCA filed a patent on the new engine in 2019.
The engine will likely be offered as a plug-in hybrid option in larger vehicles like the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (which is expected to get a plug-in hybrid soon) and even the Ram 1500. These plans will most likely extend to the Grand Cherokee as well. WL. Morrison has yet to confirm any plans or even the existence of inline6.
While no high-performance variant has yet been announced for the WL Grand Cherokee, Jeep will continue to build vehicles that deliver dynamic driving performance and character, according to Morrison. came back, “Still here,” Morrison said.
One of the coolest features of the two-row Grand Cherokee 2023 is the set of electronically removable sway bars that allow for extra suspension articulation. It’s a trick that the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Ram 2500 Power Wagon had, and it’s now on the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.
The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is currently being unveiled at the 2016 New York Auto Show as the 2017 Model of the Year, limiting the existing platform, which leaves no room for oscillating disturbances.
Not so with the 2022 Grand Cherokee’s two-row WL platform, and the Trailhawk was part of the plan from day one, allowing the team to set up desired features and ensure that they work within the constraints of the new packaging.
The new model solves another problem that some Grand Cherokee owners are familiar with. The windshield washer fluid tank could be a sore point for WK2 owners looking to take their Grand Cherokee off-road or switch to an aftermarket front bumper to provide more ground clearance.
It’s a low-hanging tall tank, which creates one of the WK2’s most vulnerable points for off-roading. Morrison reveals the tank is so tall and long in the WK2 that it can hold a full gallon of windshield washer fluid.
Morrison was attending one of the first WK2 Rubicon Trail test drives when the team smashed a windshield washer fluid tank on a rock, revealing the problem. While a cutaway illustration has yet to be shown of the two-row Grand Cherokee, Morrison assured MA that this issue has been fixed thanks to the platform’s new packaging, and the tank still holds a gallon of liquid.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee MPG
Estimated fuel economy for the V6-powered Grand Cherokee is typical of the midsize SUV segment at 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway when paired with rear-wheel drive. Adding all-wheel drive reduces the ratings by 1 mpg each, the V8 model is rated for 14 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. The 4xe hybrid intake is expected to provide better fuel economy, but the EPA has yet to release an estimate for this model.
The model with a 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain is equipped with a 14.0 kWh battery and a 134 hp electric motor that allows the Grand Cherokee to cover a distance of up to 40 km on a single charge. Is The Jeep Trackhawk Supercharged
It is powered by a supercharged 6.2 liter Hemi V8 motor known as the Hellcat. In this application, it makes a mighty 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Price
While we don’t know what price Jeep will charge for the 2023 Grand Cherokee, we anticipate the new model will see its price rise slightly compared to its base price of $35,495 in 2020. Increasing the trim range, however, will undoubtedly add to the cost, and the Grand Cherokee The 2022 top-line might hit $61,999—and that doesn’t include the high-performance on-or off-road trim.
We think the Limited model represents the best mix of features, beating out the base Laredo with more gear to satisfy luxury buyers. The Limited comes as standard with leather seats, a power-operated rear liftgate, heated front, and rear seats, power-adjustable front seats, interior ambient lighting, automatic high-beam headlights, remote start, and more.
We’ll opt for the Entertainment Group package, which adds a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen and a nine-speaker Alpine stereo. We will also opt for the Lux Tech Group II package, with rain-sensing windshield wipers, cordless phone charger, perforated leather seats, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable steering column, digital mirrors, second-row blinds, a 360-degree exterior camera system, front and rear parking sensors,

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date
We’ll find out more about the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee when the brand is set to be released in the coming months with sales set to begin before the end of the 2022 calendar year.
Expect the SRT and Trackhawk models to follow the 2023 or 2024 model years. The new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will arrive in the winter of next year.
