2022 BMW 5 Series: New Feature BMW 5-Series With Electric Concept

Posted on

2022 BMW 5 Series BMW is leaking like water through a filter as of late, and leaked photos of the new 2022 Series 2 coupe and the new iX3 crossover hit the internet this week.

And now BMW has another new model launched before its official debut: the BMW 5 2022. According to a post on the BMW Bimmerpost fan forum.

When the current 5-Series G30 was released, it didn’t look much different from the cars that came before it. Fun fact: BMW calls the mid-cycle update the “Lifecycle Impulse”.

We’ll stick with the term facelift, and it looks like the facelift made to the exterior of the upcoming BMW 2022 5 series brings a styling that is much more in line with that of the current 3 Series.

Seen here in the form of a 530e petrol-electric hybrid, this refreshed BMW 5 2022 appears to sport the front bumper of the M-Sport package and a new set of multi-spoke wheels.

2022 BMW 5 Series

New BMW 5 series 2022 Missing from the car’s design are hints of four circular headlights. Instead, this model adopts a “double hockey stick” daytime running light.

2022 BMW 5 Series

Please note, this is a leak from the European spec car, which means that there may be some changes that separate this model from the North American spec model. One thing that is unlikely to change is the updated 5 grille size.

That’s great because, unlike the other Bimmer, the facelifted BMW 2022 5 series grille looks the same size as the one affixed to the current car. Maybe the new BMW 5 series 2022 listened to our complaints.

The new 5-er also has fresh taillights and might get an update to the cabin too. Updates to the infotainment settings, some new technology, and possibly an update on the powertrain and suspension are all available for the mid-size BMW sedan.

We won’t know for sure until BMW completely unwraps it. Until then you can look at these photos and decide for yourself whether you like the new look of the car or not.

All-New BMW 5 Series 2022

New BMW 5 Series 2022, BMW has been leaking like water from a filter recently, and leaked photos of the new 2022 Series 2 coupe and the new iX3 crossover hit the internet this week.

And now BMW has another new model released before its official launch: the 5 Series 2022. This is according to a post on the BMW Bimmerpost fan forum.

When the current 5 Series G30 was launched, it didn’t look much different from the cars that came before it. Fun fact: BMW calls the mid-cycle update “Lifecycle Driving Force”. We will stick to the term facelift, and the facelift to the exterior of the upcoming 5 Series seems to bring a much more harmonious style with the existing 3 Series.

Seen here as a 530e petrol-electric hybrid, this revamped Series 5 appears to be wearing the front bumper of the M-Sport package and a new set of multi-spoke wheels.

Clues to the four circular headlights that are missing from the car’s design. Instead, this model uses a “double hockey stick” daytime running light. Please note this is a leak from the European special car; this means there may be some changes that set this model apart from the North American special model.

One thing that is unlikely to change is the updated size of the 5 grids. This is great because unlike the rest of the Bimmer, the updated Series 5 grille looks the same size as it pasted on the current car. Maybe BMW is listening to our complaints.

The new 5-er also has fresher taillights and can also receive an update for the cabin. Updates to the infotainment settings for the mid-size BMW sedan, some new technology, and perhaps the powertrain and suspension updates are on the table.

We won’t be able to be sure until BMW has it fully unlocked. Until then, you can look at these photos and decide for yourself whether you would like the new look of the car.

Is The BMW 5 Series A Good Car

The BMW 5 Series is a mid-sized luxury car with many attractive properties, including a large safety score and an above-average predicted reliability rating. Inside, it has a handsome and spacious cabin, as well as many high-tech features and in our opinion, this is a vehicle that is perfect for those of you who are lovers of luxury vehicles.

New BMW 5 Series 2022 Electric

The next-generation BMW 2022 5 Series will be available with a fully electric powertrain option and will go on sale in 2023.

This means that the brand’s premier executive sedan will rival the upcoming Mercedes EQE saloon – the all-electric sibling to the E-Class – and the Tesla Model S.

These new models will follow the BMW iX3, i4, and iNEXT SUV, all of which will launch before the end of 2021.

And like those cars, the electric 5 Series will likely carry the prefix ‘i’ – the BMW i5 – to differentiate it from the petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid models that will continue in the next generation.

It is not known whether BMW will offer a pure electric version of the car in the styling of the sedan and Touring estate.

However, judging by the electric versions of future BMW core models, such as the iX3 and i4, it seems safe to assume that the i5 version of the 5 Series will feature some unique exterior design changes that will make it an all-electric model, as shown in the image. our exclusive.

While the main details of the new model are a bit far off to confirm – BMW just did a facelift to the existing 2022 5 Series – we can draw some possible conclusions about it from the current model and the brand’s imminent electric release.

The existing and recently revised G30 5 series is based on BMW’s modular CLAR technology, which uses high-strength steel and lightweight composites in its construction.

The next-generation model will likely use the latest version of this platform, and given that the iX3 SUV shares the same foundation, EV technology will likely carry over as well.

The IX3 is the first BMW to use the company’s fifth-generation electric drivetrain.

On the X3-based zero-emission SUV, it consists of a rear-mounted 282bhp electric motor mated to an 80kWh battery – great for a range of 285 miles. The new 2022 5 Series electrics will likely boast similar statistics.

The all-electric 5 Series confirmation comes as BMW aims to cut average CO2 emissions across its new car lineup.

In total, 25 new electrified models will be rolled out across the BMW Group by 2023, with roughly half of them ditching all forms of internal combustion engines altogether.

If the regular engine continues to run, 48-volt mild-hybrid technology will be used to help further improve fuel efficiency.

Although BMW has promised a total of new models in 2023, the current 5 Series life cycle means that the new i5 will likely be released towards the end of that period.

BMW has also confirmed that other models in the core lineup of the marque will receive a pure electric variant.

These include the X1 SUV and the 7 Series limousine, which are powered by a next-generation combustion engine and plug-in hybrid options.

2022 BMW 5 Series 530i Sedan

For much of the 1990s and 2000s, the BMW 5 Series was a classic mid-range luxury sports sedan. With a sharp blend of powerful power, attractive handling, and refined comfort, it fits perfectly into the smaller BMW 3 Series and the larger 7 Series.

To some dismay, the latest version of the Series 5 focuses more on luxury. But it is still one of the leading midsize sedans on the market.

For 2021, BMW has updated the 5 Series with a revamped front end, larger infotainment touchscreen, and better sound control. There is also a new 48-volt mild hybrid system for the 540i which slightly improves fuel efficiency and makes it easier to operate the engine stop-start system at traffic lights.

How does that compare to the likes of the A6 who has advanced from Audi technology and the impressive E-Class from Mercedes-Benz? Across all individual categories, BMW has not always been at the top. But overall, the Series 5 is a satisfying luxury sedan that deserves a close look.

The EPA estimates you can cover about 21 miles on electric power at 530e before switching to regular hybrid operation.

The 540i gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder (335 hp, 331 lb-ft). At the top of the range is the M550i with a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 engine (523 hp, 553 lb-ft). BMW all-wheel drive, called xDrive, is an option on the 530i, 530e, and 540i. This is standard on the M550i.

An eight-speed automatic is a standard across the board. The very high-performance M5 is reviewed separately.

2022 BMW 540i

2022 BMW 540i (Starting at $59,950) Under the hood of the 540i is a 335-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6-cylinder engine. It produces 332 lb-ft of torque. BMW adds a little secret sauce via an electric motor.

That makes it a mild hybrid. The electric motor, not only powers the accessories but also generates some horsepower when the driver asks for a little boost in acceleration.

The government estimates fuel economy is 25 mpg city/32 mpg highway/27 mpg combined. Spending an additional $2,300 for the 540i xDrive lowers mileage to 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway/26 mpg combined.

The engine is the big differentiator between the 530i and 540i. That and the wheels: the 540i gets 19-inch alloy wheels.

For the base price of the 540i, add the $995 destination fee to reach a total of $60,945. For 60-month financing of this amount with 3% interest and no down payment, the monthly payment is $1,046. Find the 2022 BMW 540i for sale

BMW 545e Touring 2022

The BMW 5 Series has undergone a mid-cycle update for 2021, with updates including a revised styling and new electrification options in the form of a mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Here in the United States, the top models stick with the V-8-powered M550i and M5, but in other markets, the top-echelon 5-Series will also see a new 545e plug-in hybrid fall. BMW has not confirmed whether we will see this model in local showrooms.

As the name suggests, the car will be powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain in the same xDrive45e X5 and 745e being sold here. The powertrain pairs a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine with an electric motor for a combined 389 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. And like the xDrive45e and 745e, the 545e will also come with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard.

According to BMW, the settings are good for 0-62 mph acceleration in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The battery is a 12-kilowatt-hour unit that should deliver at least 17 miles of electric range on an EPA cycle, as this is what the larger 745e achieves.

The 545e will also come with BMW’s new eDrive Zones technology. Using information from navigation, the vehicle when it enters the special EV zone in certain cities will automatically switch to electric mode. The first two cities recognized by this system were London and Birmingham in England.

Battery-electric car enthusiasts can look forward to fully electric options in the next-generation 5-series lineup to be released a few years from now. That was confirmed by BMW Group CEO Oliver Zipse in July. A fully electric M5 is also rumored to be in the works.

2022 BMW 5 Series 535

The BMW 5-Series 2021 is a mid-size luxury sedan that runs more options than the college midfielder with weak arms and fast legs. It competes with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, and Genesis G80.

The light refresh of the seventh-generation Series 5 expands the grille, narrows the adaptive LED headlamps that have become standard this year, and slightly extends the hood to allow for a new mild-hybrid system on the 540i model.

The base 530i packs a punchy turbo-4 in available rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission that is as impressive as engineering feats like adaptive suspension that reads road nuances and enhances good ride while reducing reckless driving.

The 530e turns the base sedan into a power-enhanced plug-in hybrid this year, although the 20-mile electric pedestrian mileage remains.

The 540i uses a mild hybrid system that boosts the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 and shuts down the engine to reclaim energy while gliding, increasing the combined fuel economy of 2 mpg to 27 mpg, which is just 1 mpg under the 530i. Put on the all-wheel drive to hit 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.

The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 on the M550i does it faster and has an enhanced M suspension with a lower ride height, additional grip on bigger tires, and more performance stuff. For the full M treatment, there’s the 617 horsepower M5 Competition which rockets to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.

Series 5 has four comfortable seats, but the fifth seat should be used as an armrest or entrance to long but narrow luggage.

The standard 16-way front seat with lumbar support provides plenty of comfort, but luxury essentials like leather upholstery, heated seats, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come at an extra cost.

BMW is showing off its commitment to cutting-edge technology with a 12.3-inch touchscreen that’s 2.0 inches bigger than last year and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster that adapts to driver preferences.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as excellent natural voice commands and silly yet addicting gesture controls, are just an infotainment experience while still providing a layer of options.

Standard driver assistance systems such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and a blind-spot monitor round out the IIHS ‘top safety ratings, and many safety options, such as a surround-view camera with parking sensors, help protect body and body. in.

The 530i costs $ 55,195, including $ 995 destinations, the M550i stretches to $ 77,795, and the full M as in Masterful stands at $ 112,095. Yes. All-wheel drive adds $ 2,300 on all but the M550i and M, which is standard.

Style

The familiar Formula-5 Series, with its long nose, short deck, and long-wheelbase with muscular wheels, may seem familiar with how often it is mimicked.

Is Amirite, Volvo S90, Cadillac CT5, and Genesis G80 coming out? It’s 1.2 inches longer, but luckily that trademark kidney grille has only grown slightly this year.

The adaptive headlamps are slightly narrower and feature dual L-shaped daytime running lights that double as indicators. A taller, wider grille with more protruding blades pushes the headlights outward. The rear has a bolder exhaust liner with a new tail lamp design.

Inside, two 12.3-inch displays fill the dashboard which comes with a nice yet quiet contrast to the available leather with wood trim separated by chrome dashboard elements.

Nothing stands out, including the control dial on the center console or the butterfly center armrests, but it envelops the rider in warmth and comfort. The updated Mercedes E-Class does even better.

Performace

Four powerful turbocharged engines, ranging from plug-in hybrid to twin-turbo V-8, provide various options with the appropriate acceleration. The Series 5 rear-wheel drive has a plus-size dancer-like grip, is light on 18-inch wheels and is agile despite large proportions.

The base model 530i packs a punch with a 2.0 liter turbo-4 that delivers 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, good enough to hit 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, or 5.8 with all-wheel drive.

Acceleration is readily made even better with the linear delivery of the superlative 8-speed automatic transmission which turns red during Sport mode driving and stays calm effortlessly in EcoPro or Comfort mode.

The 2.0-liter engine pairs with the 12.0-kWh battery pack to increase the 530e plug-in hybrid to 288 hp and 310 lb-ft.

A 40 hp increase over last year’s model yields a time of 5.7 seconds 0-60 mph but all the electricity is a hefty 20 miles away. That hardly justifies a $ 3,000 increase, even with available government subsidies.

The new light hybrid system on the 540i is well worth it. The two-battery system removes the load from the 3.0 liter inline-6 turbocharged with a coasting function which returns energy to the larger 48-volt starter generator, which then powers the 12-volt battery to run the electrical system in the cabin.

The starter/generator provides a boost of 11 hp for a total output of 335 hp and 332 lb-ft. It is never understaffed. Unlike today’s politics, power transfer is almost imperceptible, except for the power monitor on the touch screen and the digital cluster.

This increases efficiency by 2 mpg and increases the 0-60 mph time to 4.6 seconds with all-wheel drive.

The M550i 4.4 liter twin-turbo V-8 comes with a standard all-wheel drive. It takes 523 hp and 553 lb-ft to curb for 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.

If that’s not fast enough, there are higher variants that make 600 hp and 553 lb-ft on the M5, or 617 hp on the M5 Competition. Face melting occurs in 3.1 seconds.

A sedan can be had with all-wheel drive for $ 2,300 more on the 530 and 540 models; it’s standard on the V-8. It’s heavier but faster that way, and the double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear never betray the 4,000-pound average weight of the crossover.

The suspension, with adaptive dampers on the M package or standard on the M550i, competes for the 8-speed automatic as the best element of the 5 Series. Adaptive dampers help it penetrate the road, and challenge drivers to go faster in and out of turns without losing definite footing.

The Series 5 can glide comfortably and at ease, or press a button to run faster, turn sharper, and handle firmer and more agile.

Comfort & Quality

The quiet comfortable cabin of the 2021 BMW 5 Series speaks volumes for serenity now. The bumper has increased by 1.2 inches, so the same 117-inch wheelbase as last year results in the same roomy interior.

Comfortable front and rear seats, and the finest refined interior combined with a variety of lighter leather materials and trimmed in wood, give it a rating of 8.

One of the two tiers of leather upholstery should be standard on the 5-Series, but BMW covers the 16-way adjustable front seat in synthetic leather with contrast stitching.

The available 20-way seat with automatic support to suit the driving mode makes the beautiful seat even better, plus a thigh extender and headrest seat.

Mid-seat riders in the rear won’t be blown away by the adequate leg and headroom, and the in-seat outboard heating options.

The center section is best used as a passage from the rear seats which divides 40/20/40 into the long but narrow 14.0 cubic feet of luggage space. The 530e plug-in hybrid cuts cargo volumes by up to 10.0 cubic feet.

Features

State-of-the-art technology fills the cockpit of the 5 Series 2021 but can be programmed to be always present or almost non-existent, allowing the driver to customize the cockpit.

A multitude of standard features, such as dual 12.3-inch digital displays, excellent infotainment, and a multitude of convenience and performance options each earn points on our scale, as does the 4 years / 50,000-mile warranty with 3 years / 36,000 miles of scheduled maintenance. This is 9.

The infotainment system has been upgraded to be one of the best on the market, with natural voice commands that can do anything from placing windows or turning off voice guidance to navigation.

The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster adapts to drive mode, so the tach becomes a monitor of energy usage in EcoPro mode, for example. Oddly, the button to toggle through gauge info is hidden in the indicator rod.

Starting at $ 55,195, the Series 5 2021 comes with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, keyless start, ambient lighting, sunroof, power-adjustable front seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, but it doesn’t. thus. leather chair.

Any color other than white or black adds at least $ 550 and leather adds at least $ 1,500, reflecting the extensive parsing options in the Series-5.

To hide the real and wireless smartphone compatibility, as well as adaptive cruise control, you should step up to our recommended model, the more powerful and efficient 540i for $ 60,445.

The M5 Sedan costs $ 104,495, and the Competition model fetches $ 112,095. It wears a bumper revised for 2021, has a new Track mode with new shock absorbers and revised dampers. The Competition Model rises 0.2 inches lower than the M5 and has firmer springs, ball joint mounts, and rear anti-swivel blades. It was made for tracking.

Fuel Savings

With plug-in hybrid and twin-turbo V-8 options, the 2021 BMW 5 Series either suck or waste fuel. Four powertrain options create a spectrum of efficiency ranging from budget to flat.

The EPA rates the 530e plug-in hybrid at 26 mpg combined and for an electric range of 21 miles.

Beyond those outlines, the Series 5 2021 boosts efficiency via the light hybrid system on the volume model 540i to get a 5 here. The Turbo-6 has an EPA city rating of 25 mpg, 32 motorways, 27 combined. Last year’s models were a combined 25 mpg.

The 530i gets the same 25/33/28 mpg. All-wheel drive delivers a combination of 1 mpg with any model.

The V-8 on the M550i got a combined 20 mpg last year but hasn’t been rated this year.

2022 BMW M550i

2022 BMW M550 The 2022 M550i xDrive is 90% of the M5 car, and in some ways, actually better. The M550i offers powerful V8 power and a long list of tech and creature comforts.

The drawbacks in track-attack ferocity are more than just greater overall balance and much better ride quality. Given the choice, I will choose the M550i as my daily driver.

The M550i sports a BMW 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, with 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque driven via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Overall, the all-wheel-drive M550i can accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, which means it is faster than its main rivals, the Audi S6 and Mercedes-AMG E53, both using a quieter six-cylinder engine. BMW even comes with a precise launch control function, which I’m sure most people will never use.

Yes, the M5 uses a tweaked version of the same V8 engine, and yes, it does 617 hp in the guise of a Competition. But torque output is the same for the M550i, M5, and M5 Comp, and it’s the quick-release turbocharged thrust you rely on most when you step away from traffic lights and onto the road.

The base M5 is 0.4 seconds faster to 60 mph than the M550i, and that’s not a difference you’ll notice 99% of the time, if ever.

The M550i sports a BMW Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, which is the best gearbox in the world. It shifts with a dual-clutch transmission speed but has a torque converter, which makes it smoother at low speeds and when in first gear.

The gearbox also works with the M550i’s standard navigation system and optional adaptive cruise control to predictably lower shifts for curves or a slower car ahead of you, all based on information captured by various systems.

The steering wheel-mounted metal derailleur allows you to adjust the gearshift yourself if you want, but this is another case where the transmission is smarter than mine. I am very happy to let him do his own thing.

I won’t ignore the M5’s ability to rush around the racetrack, but I also refuse to believe that more than a percentage of M5 buyers tin got their cars onto the track.

The trade-off for the M5’s sharp reflexes is the often detrimental quality of city and road driving, even with the adaptive dampers set to Comfort.

In contrast, the M550i is much more balanced for everyday driving. Put the M550i into its Sport or Sport Plus setup and it’ll be quiet enough on winding roads. The standard sports rear differential keeps the rear talking while the xDrive all-wheel-drive system puts power where it needs it most.

M Sport brakes offer a lot of braking power and are easy to modulate. While the Bridgestone Potenza tires are nice and grippy. My only beef is that the rudder, although strong enough, is completely numb. The same is true for the M5; These poor steering characteristics annoy most new BMWs.

Leave the M550i in the Comfort or Adaptive setting and the dampers soft enough to smooth out bumps on minor to moderate roads while still providing a controlled and quiet ride, even when equipped with the 20-inch wheels of my test car (19s standard).

Granted, you’ll need to opt for the $ 3,600 Dynamic Handling Pack to get adaptive M suspension and active reel stabilization, but it’s money well spent if you want to party.

No V8-powered BMW will ever be frugal, and the EPA says the 2021 M550i xDrive should return 17 miles per gallon in the city, 25 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined.

If that’s a problem, I highly recommend checking out the 540i, which offers a straight, turbocharged six engine with a mild-hybrid boost, and will easily beat 30 mpg on the highway.

The M550i is getting several updates for 2021 that you’ll find on other Series 5 models, including new headlights and taillights as well as some updated interior decoration.

You can criticize the 5 Series for being on the quieter side of the draws, especially when compared to cars like the Genesis G80 3.5T or Mercedes-AMG E53.

But I love the M550i, especially in this rich Aventurin Red ($ 1,950) which looks a little red or purple depending on the lighting. I like to call it Chillable Red.

Interior 5 is nice, but again, boring. There are just a few cheap plastic scraps to talk about, but they’re on a surface you won’t touch very often.

Everything else in the cabin is great, from the soft leather seats to the attractive metal inlays to the optional ceramic controls of my test car. It’s very quiet here, too, making the M550i a great car for everyday commuting.

The M550i comes standard with a list of Series 5 multimedia technologies, starring the BMW iDrive 7.0 software. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster displays all relevant vehicle data types, while the second 12.3-inch touchscreen handles the heavy-lift above the dashboard.

Touching the screen is the easiest way to operate this technology, although you can still use the rotary knob on the center console or work via voice commands. BMW’s dumb gesture controls are part of the $ 2,150 Executive Package and thankfully can be turned off.

Side note: I find it hilarious that if you turn up the radio volume via the steering wheel button or the tuning knob while the gesture controls are activated, a small display will appear on the screen showing the hand movements you can make.

It’s like a car’s subtle way of reminding you that you’re not using a function in the newest and most exciting way. How about German.

I prefer to use the wireless Apple CarPlay interface, which is standard, along with Android Auto. Wireless charging comes as part of the Executive Package mentioned above, as does the head-up display.

You can also pick up the excellent Bowers & Wilkins sound system for an extra $ 3,400 if that’s your bottleneck.

Surround-view cameras and park distance controls are incorporated into the $ 800 Parking Assistance Package and advanced driving aids such as lane guard assistance and blind-spot monitoring are part of the $ 1,700 Driving Assistance Package.

The latter also adds the BMW Extended Traffic Jam Assistant, which allows for a limited amount of steering assistance on certain roads under 40 mph.

The BMW M550i xDrive 2021 starts at $ 77,795 including $ 995 for the destination, and the loaded example as you can see here costs just under $ 94,000.

That’s a lot of money, but don’t forget, you can’t get an M5 for less than $ 104,495. Unless you need the power and power of the M5, I’d say stick with the M550i and enjoy a much more livable – and affordable – package.

2022 BMW 5 Series SUV

The BMW 5-Series arrived as a fully updated vehicle in 2017. When the midsize sedan was introduced, a seventh-gen model was introduced with more technology, a more powerful engine, and a larger footprint. Entering the sixth year of its sales model, the BMW 5 Series 2022 is expected to arrive as a built-in model.

When the Series 5 went on sale for the 2017 model year, it was slightly larger than the previous-gen model and featured more muscular design elements. The rounded, softer edges of the previous Series-5 were replaced by more aggressive lines.

The sharp headlamps, large kidney grille, and angled front fascia accentuate the Series-5’s athleticism. The rear looks more elegant, where the Series 5 wears shielded taillights and a square double exhaust outlet.

Over the years, BMW has updated the sedan design to make the 5 Series even sharper. We hope the current Series 5 design remains the same for the 2022 model year.

On the interior, the Series 5 currently displays its luxurious side. This sedan boasts an upscale cabin with a dashing design. Although not as fancy as some of the competitors, the Series 5 has sporty elements, such as a thick steering wheel, large gear shift, and paddle shifters.

The cabin also features high-end elements such as an angled dashboard and high-end trim pieces. The BMW 5 Series 2022 will have the same interior design as the current model.

On the technology side, the 5 Series currently comes with a 12.3-inch touch screen, 12.3-inch digital screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, navigation, and 12 audio speakers.

Wi-fi hot spots, Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and wireless smartphone charging are optional. We expect the same technological features to be available in the BMW 5 Series 2022.

BMW offers four engines with the current 5 Series. The powertrain will continue to be available in the 2022 model. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 248 horsepower.

Subsequent steps included the same motor paired with an electric motor for a combined output of 288 hp. This engine is available on the plug-in hybrid 530e model.

The 540i’s equipment is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 335 hp. At the top of the regular Series, 5 series is a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 producing 523 hp. All engines are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Rear-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive available.

The Series 5 now comes with a long list of standard safety features as standard. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane guard assistance, blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam assistance are standard.

As a built-in model, the Series 5 2022 should come with all the same features as standard.

2022 BMW 5 Series Redesign

2022 BMW 5 series Redesign next-generation 5 Series and X1 SUV models will be available entirely with electric engine, in addition to petroleum, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options.

This is part of BMW’s plan to reduce CO2 emissions per vehicle by at least a third for the entire vehicle lifecycle by 2030. Bavarian cars will introduce 25 hybrid and electric models by 2023.

The next BMW 5 Series and X1 models will follow in the footsteps of the 7 Series in 2022, which will be the first BMW available in all four types of powertrains, including the pure EV variant.

BMW added that this year they are on the right track to meet the EU’s strict CO2 fleet target. The German carmaker is aiming for more than seven million models to be on the road within a decade, and two-thirds have an all-electric media.

The company did not release technical details or give a launch date for the Series 5 and X1 electric models. However, BMW is expected to use a similar regulation to the recently launched iX3, which uses a rear-mounted 282 HP electric motor and an 80 kWh battery pack.

BMW 5 Series 2022 Facelift

The facelifted BMW 5 Series Estate Sedan and Touring Estate has been revealed. The new car gets a mild styling refresh, a revised engine with mild hybrid assistance, and updated interior and safety technologies.

2022 BMW 530e Electric Range

The 530e Sedan has impressive battery capacity for an enhanced all-electric range of up to 21 miles (18 miles for the 530e xDrive) – ideal for shorter trips and trips.

BMW 2022 5 Series Specs

BMW subdued its 5-series with a simple, comprehensive facelift designed to steal the spotlight from the slightly more aggressive Mercedes E-Class and the fresh Audi A6.

Set to launch in mid-2020 as the 2021 model, the lineup will again comprise the 248-horsepower 530i, 335-horsepower 2022 BMW 540i, 523-horsepower M550i, and the 288-horsepower 530e plug-in hybrid.

All models will continue to be available with optional rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, called xDrive, except for the AWD-specific xDrive M550i.

The more powerful M5 will be updated in the not too distant future, reflecting a change to this more pedestrian series 5 model.

At first glance, the series 5 facelift looks more angular and a little angrier, its LED headlamps feature sharp creases.

The prominent grille also looks more pronounced, and while the headlights get an L-shaped lighting element, the same elements have now disappeared from the taillights.

The exhaust pipes now all look the same regardless of the engine – keep the badge on, everyone!

Taller and wider, the new kidney grilles emphasize their kinship with the 7-series and X7 without displaying dominance.

The side view keeps the curious character line that turns into the C pillar. And the M550i is treated, as before, with bronze trim.

Overall, we liked the new look, and the new BMW 5 2022 still looks more agile and sportier than the fatter competitors.

Inside, the visual changes are simple, with new contrast stitches as the most important enhancement.

However, the driver assistance and infotainment systems have improved markedly, with new cloud-based maps and a plethora of further options that do their best to distract you while potentially saving you the consequences of distraction.

While the 530i’s turbo-four engine remains unchanged, the 2022 BMW 540i six-line power plant gets a 48-volt hybrid system that can offer a bit of a power boost to counter turbo lag.

It should also slightly improve fuel economy and slightly smoothen the automatic start / stop function.

The 530e plug-in hybrid, powered by a detuned version of the four-banger 530i, gets a much bigger boost from the 107-horsepower electric motor integrated into the eight-speed ZF automatic.

But perhaps our favorite engine remains the newly upgraded 4.4-liter V-8 in the M550i; at 523 horsepower, it is approaching the M5 while exhibiting more polite manners.

2022 BMW 5 Series MPG

Four powertrain options create a spectrum of efficiencies ranging from budget to flat.
