2023 BMW M5 In 2023, there should be a new generation of BMW 5 Series rolling out on the streets — which of course means we’ll be getting a new generation of the iconic M5. Autocar has several reports on what the new car will look like.
According to the report, the new M5 will still offer an absolutely insane amount of power….but how it makes up for that power is perhaps a bigger departure from tradition than the current generation, which is moving from rear to all-wheel-driving. and ditch the manual transmission.
The new 5 Series is expected to use BMW ‘s CLAR architecture . This is a transitional platform before BMW switches to a dedicated EV platform in 2025, designed to give BMW maximum flexibility and the ability to produce combustion, hybrid and fully electric versions of the same car.
(Despite the slight hamstring design, forcing EVs and combustion vehicles to use the same architecture makes it difficult to take full advantage of the benefits of the former.)
Per Autocar, we can expect the new M5 to be a plug-in hybrid, using the same powertrain as the upcoming X8 M. This means a twin-turbo V8 as the base engine with a 200 horsepower electric motor that cranks up power to 750 hp, which should help account for the extra weight.
(That would be a different approach from Mercedes, which looks set to cut back on its V8 engine, at least temporarily.) The performance targets for the new M5 are 0-60 mph times in under 3.0 seconds and a top speed above 200 mph. .
Amazingly, the M5 may not be a top-of-the-line model. The CLAR architecture can accommodate up to three electric motors, and Autocar suspects BMW could offer a tri-motor version of the electric i5 sedan that can produce 800 hp.
The new M5 will be a far cry from the BMW M5 power sedan of yore. But like the current model, any remaining purists will give up if it ends up being fun to drive.

Could BMW have something wilder for the M5, the pinnacle of the German automaker’s sports sedan lineup? There is always an opportunity, given how German engineering has a tendency to create very fast machines.
And with the continued move towards electrification, there is a strong chance BMW will give the 5 Series, particularly the M5, one final, inviolable farewell.
2023 BMW X7 M50i
If you need a large luxury SUV with better performance and driver engagement, the BMW X7 is a possible choice in many ways. The BMW X7 provides a similar driving experience to the smaller X5 but comes standard with three rows of seats and has a larger cargo area. bigger.

2023 BMW M5 Competition
With more than a year remaining before its introduction to the market, the next-generation BMW M5 2023 will be shown this week. The Photoshop image is based on a recent BMW M5 spy photo that surfaced earlier this week.
Of course, many design details are still hidden by the heavy camouflage on the prototype, so any rendering at this point will not be completely accurate. The proportions are easier to define, as well as the overall shape of the new G90 M5.
For starters, the spy shots point to a normal sized kidney grille. And that’s not surprising given that the leadership of BMW’s design team has often stated that a bold and big kidney won’t trickle down the entire BMW lineup.
So like the new 5 Series, the M5 sedan will launch with a fairly small kidney, but bolder and more muscular in appearance. This rendering also shows an aggressive front-end design with large air openings to cool the powerful engine.
The rendered front also shows a set of laser lights with upturned eyebrows, as seen on the current M5 facelift. The side view gives us a look at the blush grip that will most likely end on the new M5. There are also simpler shapes that give the side view a cleaner look.
Big wheels have always been a must on M cars, so we’re glad this rendering makes good use of that visual trick.
While design is always an interesting part of a new product, in this case, we are more interested in the power plant. As we first reported last year, the BMW M5 G90 will be the first M product – or the second if you count the bespoke XM – to feature a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
The Heart of the beast was first introduced by Concept XM in the form of a new 4.4-liter TwinTurbo V8 engine paired to an electric motor.
There’s no official info on power output, but we expect the same amount of horsepower as the XM, in the 700hp range. We also expect to see the proven and tested M xDrive system and eight-speed automatic transmission.
The interior is also likely to feature an entirely new design with a large screen, iDrive 8, new center console, and lots of high-tech and high-quality materials. The 5 and M5 series are often referred to as the backbone of the M division, so BMW will make every effort to present attractive and premium products.
2023 BMW M5 Price
We expect a base BMW 5 Series powered by a 248-horsepower turbocharged inline-4 to have an asking price of around $55,000.
That’s a good amount of money, even for a midsize executive sedan. To his credit, even the base 530i is full of comfort features and has driving dynamics that inspire confidence in anyone lucky enough to get behind the wheel.
With so many variations of the 5 Series, however, this is just the tip of the luxury sedan iceberg.
The plug-in hybrid variant 2023 530e should continue to start at around $57,000. This car not only offers additional fuel economy thanks to the gas-electric powertrain, but also an all-electric driving range of 21 miles.
Moving on to the higher-performance model, look for the 2023 540i — with a 6-turbocharged and 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain — starting at around $60,000.
2023 BMW M550i Price
The M550i xDrive is next, priced at around $77,000, and packs a twin-turbocharged 523-horsepower V8 and standard all-wheel drive.
Finally, the 2023 M5 dominates the 5 Series lineup, both in terms of price and pure performance. With 600 horsepower provided by the twin-turbo V8, the mighty M5 commands an asking cost of around $104,000 per copy.
BMW M5 CS 2022 Price
With two models currently being offered to local new car buyers, the BMW M5 will set you back $244,900 plus on-road costs for the M5 Competition, or $274,900 before on-road costs for the M5 CS. In the case of the CS, if you’re looking for a more definite price, it starts at $305,900 a drive.
2023 BMW M5 Release Date
We expect the BMW M5 to arrive in March 2022 as a 2023 model.
