2025 Dodge RAM 1500 Redesign
The revised Ram design takes inspiration from the existing Ram model but features distinct front and back styling. The front bumper, grille, headlights, and hood are all unique, and the headlights and “RAM” emblem are illuminated in the same way as the concept.
The taillights also extend onto the tailgate, akin to the F-150 Lightning. However, the new Ram model is built on a fresh foundation called the STLA Frame, which is slightly wider in the middle to accommodate the battery pack. Despite the updated body, it still rests on a new frame.
New Concept
The design of the Revolution concept, but only the front fork tine headlights remain from the show truck. It incorporates quad-LED headlamps and a RAM grille logo that pulsates when charging. The LED taillight now extends to the rear door, which – at least for now – does not have the barn door feature shown in the concept (and offered on the regular Ram).
Power-open/close rear door will be offered on upper trims. A more tapered front end, aero-designed wheels, and a fully shielded underbody help the REV achieve the claimed 0.34 drag coefficient.
What makes this development so surprising is not only that the Ram Revolution concept looks much cooler, but also that this new electric Ram uses a new dedicated EV platform (STLA-Frame). Consider this a missed opportunity – Ram could have created something very new and different from other trucks, especially from its competitors, and it seems to have previewed it.
Interior
The REV’s interior is quite familiar in appearance, as it closely resembles the regular Ram 1500. However, a new 10.25-inch passenger screen has been added to the existing 12- or 14.5-inch center touch screen, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and 10.25-inch head-up display. The top-range Tungsten trim level is new and unique to the REV, featuring blue and gray leather, special carbon fiber trim, dark diamond-studded chrome trim, and a distinctive badge on the center console’s glass cover. It also has 24-way adjustable front seats and a 23-speaker Klipsch sound system.
Advanced features such as hands-free driver assistance (similar to GM Super Cruise and Ford Blue Cruise) and the ability to use your phone as a key are also available.
The Ram 1500 REV’s interior has been modified somewhat, but the overall arrangement and design remain consistent with the gas-powered truck. The electric pickup has a digital gear shifter with added buttons for eco mode, axle lock, hill-descent control, and frunk open/close. There is a new regen button, and the starter button has been updated with a lit power symbol.
The electric model’s touch screen is slightly higher than the 12-inch unit on the donor model. It measures 14.5 inches diagonally. However, the lower-end configuration has a 12-inch center screen, not the larger 14.5-inch unit. Clearly, the electric Uconnect infotainment system has some exclusive content related to power management. There’s an EV page that shows power flow, charging schedule, range impact, and much more.
On the electric model, the center console panel that houses switches to adjust ride height, turn parking sensors on or off, and various other functions is absent. Most of these functions appear to have been integrated into the touchscreen infotainment system. The minor changes here are the addition of extra USB ports.
The 1500 REV stands out for its incorporation of the 12.3-inch passenger screen, which was initially unveiled on a Jeep model by Stellantis. This screen is exclusive in that it allows front passengers to control navigation, access media content, and view live feeds from exterior vehicle cameras.
Notable features in the cabin electronics department consist of a new 12.3-inch digital display for the instrument cluster that shows charging schedules and information about one-pedal driving. Additionally, a digital IRVM, a head-up display, and a 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system are among the other highlights.
Exterior

The Ram 1500 REV is not a model designed as an electric vehicle from the ground up. It is a modified version of the gas-powered Ram 1500, which is why it has a familiar shape and similar proportions. However, there are some design differences, mostly concentrated at the front.
The Ram 1500 REV, the first electric truck to be produced, has been updated with a modified version of the Ram 1500 Revolution concept’s forked-tail LED headlights, a gloss black panel, and an illuminated Ram logo between the headlights. Additionally, it has a new bumper and a lower air intake, with a redesigned hood that gives it a sleeker appearance than its ICE model. It features “REV” branding, as in the concept.
The 1500 REV is equipped with 22-inch six-spoke aero wheels (wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion all-season tires 275/50R22) that contribute to its EV look. A cover above the left front wheel arch opens to reveal the charging port.
The electric truck features new taillights with horizontal extensions into the top and a tailgate with a new engraving and block-lettered brand name. The Ram 1500 REV uses a crew cab configuration, which is a popular and safe choice for early electric pickup trucks.
Engine Performance
Stellantis has developed a front and rear motor for the Ram 1500 REV, each capable of producing 335 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. However, when combined with a larger battery, the maximum output reaches 654 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque.
For the smaller battery pack, the peak power output drops to 628 hp but maintains the same peak torque. The truck is expected to have a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds, which is slightly slower than the F-150 Lightning due to its weight. The drive-reduction ratios for each motor are 15.0:1, and the rear differential has an e-locker.
While both motors are permanent magnet units, the front motor can be disconnected when not needed for full power and traction to improve efficiency. The vehicle offers two EV modes and six drive modes, including one-pedal and one-pedal with stop.

Powertrain
The Ram 1500 electric truck has two electric drive modules (EDM), which integrate the motor, gearbox, and inverter, on each axle. It is possible to detach the front axle EDM when not needed to maximize efficiency. An optional electronic locking differential is available for the rear axle EDM. One-pedal driving is possible on the 1500 REV.
The highest-level dual-motor powertrain generates 654 horsepower and 620 lb.-ft. of torque, resulting in a 0-60 mph acceleration time of only 4.4 seconds. A three-motor AWD setup that caters to both on-road and off-road performance may be available in the future.
Mamatha Chamarthi, the SVP for Business & Product Software at Stellantis, has stated that the Ram 1500 REV is expected to receive over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates to improve its performance and efficiency over time. Furthermore, Chamarthi has confirmed that the vehicle will also be able to receive software-supported performance upgrades after it has been delivered.
2025 Dodge RAM 1500 Platform STLA
The Ram 1500 REV employs the STLA Frame platform, which is specifically designed for full-size electric vehicles with body-on-frame construction. The platform features a high-strength, lightweight steel frame, and operates at a voltage of 800V, which is double the normal voltage.
The wider middle section of the frame allows for the battery pack to fit, while the rail frame provides protection. The vehicle’s aerodynamics have also been optimized with a full-length aero belly pan, resulting in an estimated drag coefficient of 0.340 Cd, the lowest among all-electric trucks according to Ram.
2025 Dodge RAM 1500 REV Can Charge Fast
Ram’s 1500 REV provides rapid charging capabilities with its 800V system that can reach speeds up to 350 kW, enabling it to add 110 miles of range in only 10 minutes. Furthermore, the 1500 REV has the capability for vehicle-to-home, vehicle-to-grid, and vehicle-to-vehicle charging.
In addition, the 1500 REV has 7.2 kW of output from the bed and 3.5 kW from the 15-cubic-foot frunk, which is 0.9 cubic feet larger than the Ford F-150 Lightning.
Air Suspension
The Ram 1500 REV features a multi-link independent rear suspension, which comes with a standard four-corner air suspension, active level, and adaptive damping. It also comes with five customizable air suspension modes, which are entry/exit, aero, normal, off-road 1, and off-road 2, allowing drivers to select their preferred height.
The height can be lowered for improved aerodynamic efficiency on the highway, raised higher for off-road driving, or adjusted to a level in between for other driving conditions.
Battery
The Ram 1500 REV offers two battery pack options. The standard pack contains 22 modules with a capacity of 168 kWh, providing a range of up to 350 miles. The optional larger pack contains 30 modules with a capacity of 229 kWh, providing a range of up to 500 miles.]
The truck uses an 800-volt system that can take advantage of 350 kW chargers and supports two-way power transfer. There are various power points around the truck, including outlets in the frunk, bed, and RamBox bedside storage containers.
The truck features a pair of electric motors with all-wheel drive, producing 654 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. The front motor can be disconnected to increase efficiency, and there’s an available rear-axle lock for better off-road traction.
The REV uses air suspension, with various heights for easy access, more aerodynamic cruising range, and better ground clearance. The truck can tow up to 14,000 pounds and haul up to 2,700 pounds of cargo in the bed.
One Configuration, Two Battery Packs
Similar to the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Ram 1500 REV will only be available as a crew cab with a 5-foot-7-inch bed and dual-motor all-wheel drive. However, unlike the F-150, all REV models will come equipped with full air suspension as standard. Ram has stated that the REV will be available for fleet purchases, but the vehicle’s luxury features suggest that it will likely be more popular as a high-end lifestyle purchase.
The REV will offer two battery pack options: a 168-kWh pack that provides up to 350 miles of range and a larger 229-kWh pack that offers a range of up to 500 miles.
The battery packs will be positioned between the STLA-Frame rails, which have been modified for the 1500 cab and box. Similar to GM’s Ultium vehicles, the electrical architecture will operate at 400 volts, but the battery can be split into two sections to allow for faster 800-volt, 350-kW charging when stationary. Ram claims that the REV can add 110 miles of range in just 10 minutes under ideal conditions.
The REV will also feature two-way charging, allowing it to charge other EVs or an entire home equipped with a special charger, similar to Ford’s. The frunk outlet can export 3.6 kW of power, while the bed outlet can share 7.2 kW, including through a 240-volt twist-lock outlet.

Up to 500 Miles Range?
Ram has announced that the 1500 REV, which is set to be available to customers by 2025, will come with two battery options. The standard battery pack will have a capacity of 168.0-kWh and is expected to offer a range of 350 miles per charge. The long-range battery option will have a capacity of 229.0-kWh and is expected to offer a range of 500 miles per charge.
To give context to the figures, the F-150 Lightning with an Extended Range has a battery capacity of 131.0 kWh and advertises a range of 320 miles, although, during a test drive at 75 mph on a highway, only 230 miles were achieved. On the other hand, the Hummer EV has a larger battery capacity of 212.7 kWh, and GMC claims a range of 329 miles (290 miles were achieved in range testing), but charging a battery of that size can cost up to $100 for a full charge.
Regardless of the battery chosen, the 1500 REV will be able to add a range of up to 110 miles in about 10 minutes, demonstrating an extraordinary charging rate above 300 kW for the entire time. Fast DC charging at 800 volts with speeds up to 350 kW is enabled by switching the connection between the two 400-volt battery sections, possibly using the same process as GM with the Hummer switching from parallel to series for 800-volt charging.
The Ram 1500 REV features a dual-motor electric drive module with one motor on the front axle and one on the rear, delivering all-wheel drive. The front axle has an automatic wheel-end disconnect to increase efficiency, while the rear axle can be equipped with an electronic locking differential. The truck has a total output of 654 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque, and it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
Additionally, the 1500 REV will be capable of vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-grid, and vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging, and it has power outlets in the bed and the cab capable of producing up to 7.2 kW and 3.6 kW, respectively.
Range & charging
The 1500 REV offers customers two battery pack options: 168 kWh and 229 kWh. The smaller battery pack is expected to provide a range of up to 350 miles, while the larger one is estimated to provide a range of 500 miles, though this hasn’t been confirmed by the EPA yet. A longer-range configuration with an internal combustion engine as a range extender is expected to be available later on.
Both battery packs support fast charging up to 350 kW and can add up to 110 miles of range in about 10 minutes. Charging can be made more convenient with plug-and-charge at compatible charging stations, and drivers can limit charging to 80% to extend battery life.
The 1500 REV supports two-way charging capabilities for vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-to-grid charging. The truck is equipped with onboard power panels in the bed that can provide up to 7.2 kW, and there’s a similar provision in the frunk with half the power at 3.6 kW.
In addition to its impressive battery capabilities, the 1500 REV also features the RamBox, which is a lockable and weatherproof storage compartment in the bed of the truck. It comes with a drain plug, a 115-volt electrical outlet, and is claimed to be the best in its class.
Payload
The Ram 1500 REV is aiming to outperform its competitors in payload and towing capacity, with some versions rated to carry 2,700 pounds and tow up to 14,000 pounds. In comparison, the payload capacity of the F-150 ranges from 1,952 to 2,235 pounds, and the towing capacity from 7,700 to 10,000 pounds, while the Silverado EV can carry 1,300 pounds and tow 10,000 pounds. The Rivian R1T has a payload capacity of 1,760 pounds and can tow up to 11,000 pounds. The REV comes with eight-wheel drive and is available in 18-, 20-, and 22-inch sizes.
Ram is aware that truck owners want to use their trucks for heavy-duty tasks. The standard-range version of the REV has a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and a payload capacity of up to 2,700 pounds.
However, the long-range version’s official towing ratings are not yet available. It is worth noting that it may not be possible to haul or tow the maximum payload over a long distance on a single charge, as with other current EV pickups. The REV’s frunk space is also the largest in its class, measuring 15.0 cubic feet, compared to Ford’s 14.1, Rivian’s 11.0, and Chevy’s 10.7.
However, the REV has also had to make compromises to cater to the practical needs of truck owners. The full-length pass-through cargo, third-row seating, and fold-down middle door, which were featured in the concept truck, did not prove popular with customers and were not included in the production version.
Independent Rear Suspension
Like its rivals, the Ram REV will feature an independent rear suspension, which comprises three lateral links and two diagonal links per side, an anti-roll bar, and air springs. This configuration enables variable ride height for improved aerodynamics at high speeds or off-road performance, with a wading capacity of up to 24 inches.
However, the REV lacks rear-wheel steering, which means it cannot perform crab-walking or other similar tricks.
The standard Ram 1500’s rear coil springs have contributed to its excellent ride quality and recognition on the 10Best list. The REV model improves upon this by introducing a multi-link independent setup at the back and an active leveling air suspension with adaptive damping on all four corners. Additionally, the adjustable air suspension offers five preset ride heights.
