2024 RAM 1500 EV the Ram debuted with the brand’s first EV pickup truck at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show in February.
Mike Koval Jr., CEO of Ram Trucks, introduced the Ram Revolution program to the world inviting fans of the Ram brand to provide feedback to help Ram create electric offerings and apply customer feedback to future EV models. This electric truck is perfect for work and play.
This new Ram EV will see some familiar names when it comes to rivals, including the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV. Not to mention newcomers like Rivian’s R1T and the massive Hummer EV.
Read on to see all the latest information on the Ram EV, as well as how we think it will make a splash in this fledgling market.
2024 RAM 1500 EV Review
When Ram uses EV, it gets big; with a drastic new look, better late than never attributes, and plans for a heavy-duty electric truck including a version that uses fuel cells to generate electricity.
Given that the current cutting edge of the brand’s electrification is the eTorque’s ultra-light-hybrid version of its gas engine, this is the pivot.
The Ram 1500 electric vehicle will come in 2024, using the STLA Frame custom electric vehicle architecture.
Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said he knew the Ram brought its electric full-size pickup to market late, but he said a package of towing performance, payload, charging time, and range would make up for the delay.
Tavares made the comments in Amsterdam where he presented Dare Forward 2030’s long-term plans for Stellantis, the company created more than a year ago by merging Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with PSA Group.
The presentation includes (more) sketches of the electric Ram teaser with modern, sleek lines, aerodynamics, and dramatic lighting. On the tailgate, a red light rose to the side and above, flashing the word “Ram” in the middle.
Previous sketches hinted at a broad profile and futuristic look, but it emphatically shows that the Ram leans towards the Chevrolet Silverado EV end of the EV pickup style spectrum, rather than the boring Ford F-150 Lightning end (the truck looks like a petrol car). F-150, despite riding a completely separate platform).
Orders will be picked up before the electric Ram 1500 goes on sale, but the timing will fall to Ram brand head Mike Koval.
MotorTrend asked Tavares for a bolder style in an interview. He said he wanted the electric Ram to stand out from the conventional trucks on sale today.
He knew there would be loyal Ram buyers who would refuse, but the brand wanted the EV to stand out on its own. Knowing some truck lovers may have doubts is why the Ram traverses the country year-round to get customer feedback which can result in some design and packaging adjustments.
It’s an effort born of respect for long-time buyers in an effort to help those who would find it harder to adjust to the new look and powertrain, he said.

2024 RAM 1500 EV
While it won’t be coming to market for a while, the 2024 Ram 1500 EV will be the first all-electric version of the brand’s regular half-ton pickup. In addition to conventional body-on-frame construction and standard all-wheel drive, Ram claims the truck will have a driving range of up to 500 miles and be able to tow more than 10,000 pounds.
Other early promises include fast charging speeds of up to 150 kWh and autonomous driving capabilities.
While the electrified Ram 1500 will be out a few years after the upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, and possibly after the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV, it could potentially capitalize on the missteps the competitor is facing.
The 2024 Ram 1500 EV will be the new model and the first Ram pickup truck to be powered exclusively by electricity.
2024 Ram 1500 Electric
2024 Ram Electric, The automotive industry’s ambition to electrify anything and everything is gaining tremendous momentum, from small hatchbacks to sports cars and large trucks to SUVs.
Even heavyweights like GM and Ford will go all out on battery-electric propulsion for their most popular nameplates with the Silverado EV and F-150 Lightning.
Not to be outdone, the crew at RAM Trucks are hard at work with their assault on the battery-electric market under the ‘RAM Revolution’ banner.
Auburn Hill’s first dedicated EV truck will be the RAM 1500, which has been reviewed on numerous occasions via shadow teaser sketches. Curious what the final product will look like? Read on as we take a look at the illustrative crystal ball and explore all the other things it has to offer.
One thing Ralph Gilles and his team at RAM Trucks got right is design – there’s not a degree of Cybertruck polarization with the style of this truck. The front end features an illuminated ‘RAM’ logo inside a decorative panel replacing the traditional grille.
Twin bar DRLs help frame the LED headlights, and the contrasting hourglass graphic adds dynamism to the lower bumper.
The steeply raked cab and rear pillar exude a futuristic aesthetic, as does the black finish that runs down the side sills and front fender molding.
The back is as futuristic as the front, featuring high bedsides, full-width LED taillights, and the lettering RAM illuminated in red.
2024 RAM 1500 EV Specs
Underpinning 1500 is the Stellantis group’s STLA Frame architecture for large trucks and SUVs. The body-on-frame platform is large enough to accommodate battery packs ranging from 159 kWh to 200 kWh, with the latter good for a range of 500 miles (800 km).
With an 800 Volt EV architecture, DC fast charging should allow for class-leading fast charging (provided you use a working DC fast charger).
Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) technologies will power equipment in the workplace and even family households in a power outage.
The 1500 BEV will initially be offered with electric motor outputs ranging from 201 hp (150 kW) to 443 hp (330 kW), driving the rear wheels or all four wheels.
Those wanting even higher performance can get lucky with rumors suggesting that an 885 hp (660 kW) dual motor variant is in the works, which is, frankly, absolutely insane for such a heavy battery-loaded pickup truck.
In an interesting move, Stellantis has also announced REPB which stands for Range Electric Paradigm Breaker.
Think of it as a pedantic name for a range-extender, though what form it will take is still anyone’s guess, with wild conjectures ranging from ICE to hydrogen combustion.

2024 Ram 1500 Redesign
While the 2022 GMC Hummer EV and Rivian R1T are already on the market, a big fight (according to many) will be between the traditional Detroit Three and certain Tesla pickup trucks. So is everyone ready?
Well, as far as the real world is concerned, the next surprising and amazing product is the 2022 Ford F-150 Lighting, which has not only started production recently but has also started shipping units to dealers nationwide. That would cause quite a stir among GMC officials and Rivian, but also with the people of Chevy, Ram, and Tesla.
However, in cyberspace, everything still has a natural balance and order. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lighting is now out and about, and the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV has officially launched, so the pixel master needs to attend to the unofficial reveal of the last Big Detroit Three – the 1500 EV Ram version.
And Marouane Bembli, the virtual artist better known as TheSketchMonkey on social media, is once again foraying into America’s newly minted EV pickup truck sector.
Having recently played with EVs like the Lucid Motors Air Estate, the revival of the zero-emissions Chrysler LeBaron, flashbacks that Ford envisioned as a “Cyber-Taurus” EV station wagon that Tesla didn’t want, and even turning the 2024 Silverado EV into a four-door sedan or The Mach-E into the Mustang was always meant to be, now he’s serious and thorough with the 2024 Ram 1500 EV.
So, first things first, CGI experts gave us their take on the 2022 F-150 Lighting and 2024 Silverado EV noteworthy, as the pixel master thinks the two brands have adopted very different stylistic philosophies.
Then, and just from the ten-minute mark onwards, he finally kicked off the ICE Ram 1500 TRX transformation by using the Ram Revolution teaser to envision the potential prospects of the sleek 2024 Ram 1500 EV.
Moreover, the artist also thinks that this car might come with a spectacular driving range of 500 miles (805 km)! Take it, you (equally) late Tesla Cybertruck.
2024 RAM 1500 EV Debut
Ram has officially confirmed it will debut an all-electric version of its popular 1500 full-size pickup truck sometime in 2024. It won’t soon replace the combustion engine variant, though the future of the long-term model is definitely battery-electric.
The automaker, which is now a part of Stellantis, has not provided much detail at this time, other than that it will use a new platform and will have fast charging of up to 150 kW.
Other expected systems include an EV trip energy monitor, charging station finder, preconditioning, and various driving modes. It says the Ram targets a range of up to 500 miles.
In comparison, Ford’s new F-150 Lightning has a maximum range of 300 miles and the GMC Hummer EV can go 350 miles.
Ram is going all out here and the main goal is to redefine the segment. We’ll be delving into more details over the next few years about what could turn out to be the best full-size EV pickup truck.
RAM 1500 EV Interior
While little is known about the interior, it’s likely to be one of the best in the business if the current 1500 Laramie and Jeep Grand Wagoneer are worth it.
Expect big-ticket items like a large infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, over-the-air updates, and Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving.

RAM 1500 EV Engine
The 2024 Ram 1500 EV aims for a range of up to 500 miles. This will leave the Ford F-150 Lightning in the dust with the EPA’s estimated 320-mile range. Also, the Chevy Silverado EV is working towards a 400-mile range.
We’re still waiting for official specs, but Ram says the truck will go above and beyond what competitors have announced. It could have over 664 hp Chevy Silverado EV and 780 lb-ft of torque.
Plus, if you run out of juice, don’t worry. The fully electric Ram pickup truck may be equipped with a petrol extender to offer additional power.
Stellantis is waiting for another electric truck to arrive before releasing the Ram EV. They’ll be playing around for a while to see what potential issues competitors might have to fix before releasing the electric Ram. This is to make the 2024 RAM 1500 EV the best truck.
RAM 1500 EV Towing and Payload Capacity
Ram doesn’t divulge specific numbers when it mentions the Ram 1500 EV’s maximum tow rating and doesn’t discuss payload capacity at all. However, the brand promises that its electric pickup truck will be able to pull a lot more than its EV competitors.
Currently, the F-150 Lightning has an official maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, so expect Ram’s max to exceed that.
RAM 1500 EV Range, Charge, and Battery Life
While we don’t know any details about the Ram EV’s half-ton battery size or charge times, Ram says the truck will have a range of up to 500 miles.
That’s 200 miles longer than the currently estimated long-range F-150 Lightning. With a DC fast charger, the Ram 1500 EV is said to be capable of charging up to 150 kWh.
Ram is also planning an electric heavy-duty truck. While some will be battery-electric, the automaker will also offer the Ram HD with fuel cells to fleet customers, allowing them to refuel in four minutes at their depot.
The technology is there: Stellantis offers large commercial vans for the Peugeot, Opel, and Citroen brands in Europe and the US will also get large commercial vans. The first deliveries to Europe began in December and there are already plans to increase capacity.
Stellantis wants to be the undisputed leader in commercial vehicles, says Tavares. Ram has a contract to supply Amazon’s fleet of ProMasters in the US starting in 2025.
2024 RAM 1500 EV Release Date
At this year’s New York Auto Show, Ram Trucks boss Mike Koval hinted that his company will be showing off its first electric pickup truck well before the date of the sale in 2024.
While showing off the new model before it arrives at dealerships isn’t exactly an unprecedented exercise, Koval seems to be. insists that there will be something more to show before the end of this year.
As a reminder, Ram only teased some pictures of the electric truck, none of which depict anything other than renderings. But that will soon change.
The first half of the caption, “time to steal some thunder,” seems like an obvious reference to one of the Ram EV’s main competitors, the Ford F-150 Lightning. Ram and Ford have a history of taking little digs at each other, like the image of a tyrannosaurus rex eating a raptor under the hood of the Ram 1500 TRX.
The second part of the post, “unleashing the Fall of 2022,” confirms what we expect; Ram will show off its EV truck (or at least a concept version) later this year. With the truck not going on sale for another two years, it’s unclear what specs (if any) it will provide on its fall debut.
2024 Ram 1500 EV Price
Ram hasn’t said how much the 2024 Ram 1500 EV will cost, what trim levels will be available, or what equipment will be standard and optional.
Our educated guess is that the F-150 Lightning will start at around $42k, and that price will likely go up over the next few years, so we bet that the electric Ram 1500 will unlock around $45,000.
