The company surprised a media group and the owners of Chevy trucks at a first glance on the Silverado 2019 by flying the truck by helicopter. We are also curious to see which engine technology the Silverado adopts. While some of its rivals have adopted reduced turbocharger engines, GM has resolutely blocked with naturally aspirated power plants, improving fuel economy through other measures.
This truck–and its Sierra Twin GMC–are the backbone of GM’s business model. Even keeping in mind the spectacular Silverado Fly-in helicopter, there may be splasher new vehicle introductions this year, but none will be as important to their car builder as this pickup.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado Engine
Chevrolet holds his cards close to his chest at the moment, but has given us some key insights for the next generation truck before whipping it away off site. The preview truck carries the next boss package from Z71 Trail, an off-road kit that probably adds all of the Rough-and-tumble goodies from the past Z71s. Skates, aggressive all-terrain tires, larger wheels, and outdoor accents Darkened are all probably part of the equation. Chevy mentioned that the designation of the trail boss adds a two-inch factory suspension lift.
By keeping the segment ultra-competitive, Chevy is looking to offer more engine and transmission options than recent generations, probably including the new 10-Speed automatic that can be found in the 2018 Tahoe and Suburban, next to The existing 6.2-litre L86 V-8, currently putting down 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Expect a range of diesels and lower output thrusters as well.
Physically, the Silverado looks more elegant than ever. There is a fair bit of Colorado in the design, especially in the back area of the cabin. It seems closer, too–at least from the semi-distant viewing position. We didn’t get a chance to climb around the new truck, but we think it’s a nice design.

It is not yet known whether the new Silverado incorporates aluminum to the same extent as the rival Ford F-150, but the decision maker alluded to the use of mixed materials throughout the truck. Chevy claims that the new truck has a new high-strength steel alloy for the bed base, letting us speculate on rumours floating around a bed lined with some new carbon composite material.

Expect the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in January next with kick-off sales by the summer. Price should not change dramatically from today, where the stickers start at $28 880, but can skyrocket to well over $60 000 for a generously option, top of the top country line.
